Peace Ranch Report: AGM October 25th 2007
As in the prior two years, this year's audit of Peace Ranch was carried out by Marcia McCann & Associates - a Mississauga based public accounting firm.
To sum up the auditor's work, nothing unusual was noted by the audit firm during the examination of the Ranch's books and activities for the year and an opinion has been issued to that effect.
The assets of Peace Ranch consist essentially of the Ranch with its residential house, the craft building soon to be finished, sheds, lean to, barn, gazebo, administrative offices in both the main house and the barn, assorted animals, a tractor, trailer, hay wagon, some farm tools and quite a bit of acreage of unused land. There are also two passenger vans, office and home furnishings and equipment. Cash on hand is for day to day operating needs, asset replacement and repair and mortgage repayment.
The majority of the operating funds at Peace Ranch are received from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Supportive Housing in Peel (SHIP), Peel United Way (supporting the Day Programme), the Residents themselves, Donations, Fundraising and the Potato Project. A Trillium Foundation grant has also been secured for a Director of Funding for the next 3 years.
Operating expenses consist primarily of salaries and wages, mortgage interest and principal payments, food, offsite housing rents, repair, heat light and power, transportation costs, as well as other minor costs listed in detail in the financial report.
The full audit report is available here tonite for anyone wishing to take a more in depth look. Peace Ranch uses the full disclosure method of accounting for its activities.
To sum up, as in prior years, this past year has seen the activities of Peace Ranch managed as frugally as ever by our Executive Director - Eric Tripp-McKay with the continuing guidance of the President and Chair of the Board - Mrs. Mary Podrebarac and the past President and Chair, Mrs. Margot Scott. Worthy of continuing note is the support provided by Eric's administrative staff- Linda Hackman, bookkeeper and Leslie Wiscombe, office administrator.
…and that concludes my report to you for this past year. If there are any questions either now or later I'll be happy to receive them and try to answer as best as I can.
Michael Nahirny, c.a. Treasurer to Peace Ranch
